On March 10th, Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF) Chair Ruth Boumphrey led a delegation to visit the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Both parties aimed to enhance exchanges and cooperation in naval architecture and ocean engineering and explore research prospects and challenges. Dean Prof. Fu Shixiao, Deputy Dean Prof. Gao Zhen, and other related experts warmly welcomed the delegation.

Dean Fu Shixiao extended a warm welcome and commended LRF's outstanding contributions to global maritime safety and sustainability. He expressed the willingness for expanded cooperation through this visit. Vice Dean Gao Zhen introduced the School's history, disciplines, research achievements, and future development plans, emphasizing its focus on innovative talent cultivation and breakthroughs in naval architecture and ocean engineering. He also anticipated deeper cooperation with LRF in research and talent cultivation.
Ruth Boumphrey outlined LRF's mission, vision and global strategy, highlighting its commitment to advancing maritime safety and technology through research and education. She highly praised the achievements of SJTU in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering and expressed the willingness for further collaboration with SJTU.

Researcher Zhou Li presented the latest research achievements in polar ship and ocean engineering, detailing the School's progress and application cases. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on technical challenges and future directions in this field.

The delegation also visited SJTU Ocean Deepwater Offshore Basin, the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in Asia. The basin holds significant research value in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering. They admired its facilities and research capabilities and hoped for future cooperation.
The visit not only enhanced the mutual understanding but also opened new avenues for future cooperation in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering. Both parties agreed to maintain close contact and jointly promote global maritime engineering safety and sustainable development.
