On February 19, the 2025 Special Exchange Seminar on Internationalization was successfully held at School of Ocean and Civil Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The seminar focused on the internationalization development progress of the School, aiming to share experiences, build consensus, and provide solid support for the in-depth promotion of the School's internationalization strategy. The event was chaired by Professor Gao Zhen, Vice Dean in charge of  Internationalization, and attended by Prof. Lin Zhiliang, Assistant to the Dean for international affairs, as well as members of the Internationalization working group.

At the beginning of the seminar, Wei Yan, the coordinator of International Affairs Office, briefly introduced the new cross-departmental working mode for internationalization and the overall  composition of the team. Subsequently, representatives from various departments, including Yuan Jiahui from the Undergraduate Academic Affair Office, Li Pengping from the Graduate Academic Affairs Office, Zhang Yiming from the Student Affairs Office, Wang Lijuan from the Human Resources Office, Gong Mingqu from the Scientific Research Office, Xi Xiaoqian from the Party and Government Office, successively took the stage to elaborate on the key contents and the challenges in their respective areas of the internationalization work. The attendee engaged in a lively discussion centered on the current situation and improvement measures of the internationalization efforts,.They actively shared experiences, exchanged ideas, and proposed numerous constructive suggestions. The enthusiastic atmosphere provided valuable insights and directions for further development of the School’s internationalization work.

Finally, in the concluding remarks, Professor Gao Zhen emphasized that in the new waves of globalization after the pandemic, internationalization is not only an inevitable choice for the School’s development but also a  crucial path to enhance its core competitiveness and international influence. Through diverse international cooperation projects, faculty and student exchange programmes, and increasing the quantity and quality of international students, the School is expected to steadily reach a new height of international development.

The Seminar provided a platform for open communication, further strengthening the cohesion and centripetal force of the Internationalization Work Team. The School of Ocean and Civil Engineering at SJTU will continue to embrace the principles of openness and inclusiveness, deepen international cooperation, expand international horizons, and strive to build a high-level School with international impact. The School remains committed to cultivating outstanding talents with global competitiveness and to promoting the internationalization of disciplinary development and scientific research.
